The vibrant Worcester nightlife will produce nights out that will never be forgotten, no matter how much you wish they could be…

You’ll find yourself dancing to remixes that defy the laws of sound, kissing people during freshers that you’ll never see again and making love to a Big Mac at 2am while watching the drama unfold outside the windows. Sounds incredible, doesn’t it?

Here’s a few club recommendations to help you boogie the night away.

Tramps

Tramps Nightclub, Angel Pl, Worcester WR1 3QN

  • 26min walk from St John’s Campus
  • 3min walk from Foregate Street Station
  • Opening times: 11:30 - 3:00 Wednesday

11:30 - 3:00 Saturday

You’ll see a lot of this place during your first week at university. Tramps holds several brilliant events including foam and paint parties, live performances and special guests. The fun doesn’t stop after that first week though, as this multi-floored club tends to host events on a regular basis. Here, you can enjoy the immaculate vibes in the R&B room, boogie right across from the DJ on the top floor platform and enjoy plenty of plush booths if you need a dance break. They’ve also hosted some pretty impressive names over the years, including Snoop Dogg, Skepta and even Take That, so keep an eye on their calendar for the next big name.

The Velvet Lounge

14 Angel Pl, Worcester WR1 3QN

  • 26min walk from St John’s Campus
  • 3min walk from Foregate Street Station

Opening times: 23:00 - 3:30 Tuesday to Saturday

23:30 – 3:30 Thursday

Sports bar by day, club by night. Located opposite the bus station and right next to its sister-club Tramps, Velvet’s pumping music usually catches the attention of those passing by and reels them in for a great night of drinks and dancing. If you’re looking to visit a few clubs throughout the night, this is definitely one to stop at, especially as it’s close to transport and McDonald’s, so you’re all sorted for when it’s time to go home.

Bushwackers

Trinity St, Worcester WR1 2PW

  • 29min walk from St John’s Campus
  • 3min walk from Foregate Street Station

Opening times: 23:30 – 3:30 Monday & Friday

23:30 – 4:00 Saturday

23:30 – 3:00 Monday & Thursday

Head on over to Bushwackers (aka Bushies) where you can enjoy the three bars, dance away in the crypt with some R&B, and cool down in the large outdoor area. You’re likely to head over here following a trip to its sister, Sin, as they go hand-in-hand. Bushwackers hosts plenty of boozy events for you to enjoy and is usually packed with party goers dancing away under the neon lights to great music. Like every nightclub, the line can get a little long, so make sure you’ve got your alcohol coat on, or book ahead and get back to doing what you do best: partying.

The Flag

50 Lowesmoor, Worcester WR1 2SG

  • 31min walk from St John’s Campus
  • 5min walk from Foergate Street Station

Opening times: Friday 22:00 – 4:00 Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

22:00 – 2:00 Thursday

Looking for Worcester’s LGBTQ+ nightclub? The Flag is your answer! This place has been around for over ten years and always brings the party vibe. There’s always lots on, including cabarets, DJ’s, karaoke and more. The Flag also prioritises safety, so there’s no need to worry about anything, just dance the night away and have plenty of fun!

The clubbing scene in Worcester is brilliant for students, and you should take advantage of everything on offer during Freshers week. There’s always offers and events on following this, so you can have lots of brilliant nights without breaking the bank. As always, make sure you drink (somewhat) responsibly, be prepared to cringe at the photographs taken by the club photographers the next day, and look after each other on your evening adventures.
