Get your face paint, we’re going to watch the game!
Welcome to Worcester, where we’re mad on live sports and proud of our players.
From our brave Worcester Warriors to our crafty cricketers, if you love watching the game in the flesh, you’re going to love it here. Here’s four places you’ll be calling home during your time at uni (besides Tramps...).
Worcester Racecourse
Grand Stand Road, Worcester WR1 3EJ
26min walk from St John’s Campus
11min walk from Foregate Street Station
Opening times: 9:00 – 17:00 Monday to Saturday
You’ll no doubt be very familiar with Worcester Racecourse. It sits between St John’s campus and Charles Hastings, and it’s also mentioned in Peaky Blinders! Here you can watch the races or look on as poor owners run after their dogs. Add the race days to your calendar here and get ready to buy those fancy hats.
Worcestershire County Cricket Club
New Rd, Worcester WR2 4QQ
27min walk from St John’s Campus
10min walk from Foregate Street Station
Opening times: 9:00 – 17:00 Monday to Thursday
9:00 – 16:30 Friday
Do you like cricket? Of course you do! There’s always plenty going on here, and there’s also a scrumptious cafe to take advantage of too, because cheering on the team is hard work! Take a look at the fixtures here and start practicing the face paint.
Sixways Stadium
Warriors Way, Worcester WR3 8ZE
15min drive from St John’s Campus
11min drive from Foregate Street Station
Opening Times (Ticket Office): 10:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday Matchday from 10am
Head over to Sixways and see some of Rugby’s mightiest warriors fly the flag for Worcester. While Rugby is one of its main attractions, Sixways also hosts plenty of concerts, benefits and comedy nights just to name a few. You can even get married there (although we do advise that you wait at least 2 working days after a game before making such a decision...). See what’s on here.
Apex Motorcross
M5, Tibberton, Worcester WR4 0AA
13min drive from St John’s Campus
14min drive from Foregate Street Station
Opening times: 10:00 – 15:00 Wednesday to Sunday
Like getting down and dirty? Not only can you watch all the Motorcross action, you can take part in it too! Apex Motorcross is actually one of the longest established, permanent motocross practice facilities in the UK, so if the studies aren’t going as planned, you could always try and become a motocross champion! See how to get in on the action here.
We’ve not mentioned the Arena here, because you should know all about that already. You are a student at Worcester University, after all. That means you should be supporting those Wolves at every home game – no excuses!
