Make the perfect Mojito for your party
Ingredients:
- 10 fresh mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
- 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
- 2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 1/2 ounces white rum
- 1/2 cup club soda
- Optional: dash of Angostura bitters
Method:
- Muddle Mint and Lime: In a sturdy glass, add the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice.
- Add Two More Lime Wedges and Sugar: Add two more lime wedges and the sugar. Muddle again to release the lime juice, and dissolve the sugar into the juice.
- Do Not Strain the Mixture: This step is crucial as it helps to infuse the flavors directly into the drink.
- Fill the Glass with Ice: Add ice cubes to the glass, filling it nearly to the top.
- Pour in the Rum: Add the white rum over the ice. The rum should fill up to just below the rim of the glass.
- Add Club Soda: Top the glass off with the club soda for a fizzy touch.
- Stir Well: Use a long spoon or a stirrer to mix the ingredients thoroughly. Make sure the sugar is well dissolved.
- Add a Dash of Bitters (Optional): For an extra layer of flavor, add a dash of Angostura bitters to the mix.
- Garnish with Mint: Take a sprig of mint and slap it between your hands (this helps to release the aroma). Garnish the drink with it.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy your refreshing mojito right away for the best taste.
This mojito recipe is perfect for parties, offering a refreshing and zesty cocktail that your guests will love. Enjoy the process of making it as much as sipping it!
